Spotted at Rite Aid

(apologies in advance for the formatting---quick posting from my iPhone app!)

New Maybelline summer products! Apparently they're continuing the "bouncy" gimmick with Dream Bouncy Bronzer....

However, their "glow" products seem interesting. Might try the bronzer or one of the illuminators.

Also, the new Colorstay Whipped foundations from Revlon look promising...having a VERY hard time finding anything paler than Buff 150 anywhere. At Rite Aid (pic) they don't even have a slot for the Ivories, and at CVS they do, but have been empty each time I've gone.

And lastly, select Cover Girl shadows, trios, and quads are 75% off! I presume because they are re-vamping the packaging. Rite Aid seems to be the only place having these on clearance for that reason, though. Sale goes through 7/7/12.

Let's Get Real Here, Almay....

I can't even..what..I don't know
Can I tell everyone how much I hated the new Almay Wake-Up Liquid Makeup?? As you can already tell, this is not going to be as nice and as well put-together as my last review. Many apologies in advance for how.......crass this entry seems.

I was so excited when I saw it at CVS (which seems to be exclusively where it's being sold right now, haven't seen at Target, Walmart, or Walgreens), I went back the very next day and bought it. Fifteen dollaroos.

I really liked the Wake-Up powder. Minus the glitter, of course, which seems to have been pretty much everyone's gripe with it. It went on really nice, the colour was perfect and I really liked the coverage it gave me.

And then there's this. This......liquid. Stuff. Like I said, I saw it at CVS this week, and haven't been able to find ANY information on it anywhere else. Even Almay's website has nada. Weird. Bought it, same colour as I got in the powder, 010 Ivory. Got home and immediately took my makeup off, washed my face, moisturised and primed.

Quick Post!

Just running in here for a quick update, I haven't died!

Picked up some new stuff recently--all the summer collections are so exciting!

My first review will be the new Almay Wake-Up liquid foundation. There seems to be a new line of Wake-Up popping up at CVS (and Bed Bath & Beyond I heard). it includes eyeshadows, blush, and liquid foundation. I actually quite liked the powder version and the color was great----except for the fact that it had glitter in it. From what I can see through the bottle, the liquid makeup doesn't appear to have any shimmer. So I'm quite excited to start the review process! I just picked it up today, so look for it in the next few days!

Subtle Iron Man Eyes

Is there really anything subtle about Tony Stark....?
After the Captain America eyeshadow fiasco, which will be summed up below, I was not looking forward to doing another Avengers look.

Thus, this Iron Man EOTD was born. It was a relatively simple and beginner-type look. I didn’t want anything like I had done with Captain America. The best part is, it’s all drugstore products so it was SUPER cheap.

The pics below were taken in natural light. And the red-smudge below the outer corner is a mistake....I get messy and I couldn’t get that off!! The slight hint of yellow liner on the lower lashline is correct though.

I like this because it's not outwardly bright or obvious. But if I say I was doing something for Avengers, you'll immediately know this as Iron Man. It's also soft enough that I'm wearing it to the library and not scaring any children. Which is usually a plus. Not always.

Rant Post!!

Hey all! First off: apologies for not delivering on the promised upcoming posts! I was going to do an Ulta haul post today, but two of the four items I bought yesterday need to be returned! I decided to try the Physicians Formula Redness Relief moisturizer and cleanser, seeing as they were way cheaper than at Walmart (on sale for 9.99 and 5.99 respectively), plus there was an attached "buy one get one free" coupon so I could try both for ten bucks!

Concealer Conundrum

To put concealer on before or after foundation, that is the question.

Unfortunately, nobody seems to have a clear answer. What are beauty newbies to do? Industry professional, Bobbi Brown, writes in her book “The Makeup Manual” to put concealer on before foundation, citing that this way you will end up using less foundation in the long run.

Others say to put concealer on after foundation, because if you have a good enough foundation, then you’ll use less concealer since the foundation will have already covered up some of the things you needed to conceal.

Both sides say you’ll lose less of one product in favour of using the other. Which camp do you fall into?

I’m a bit of both. I use under-eye concealer (MAC Select Cover-up in NW15 or Hard Candy Glamouflage in Light) before my foundation, and a blemish concealer (MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 in NW15 or  Hard Candy “Nobody’s Perfect palette in Light) after foundation. My dark circles have been horrible lately, and so before foundation seems like the best time for me to try and conceal that area. I’ve also noticed that with my dry skin, if I try to cake on concealer under my eyes after foundation is there, it just goes right into my fine lines and becomes very obvious that it’s there. And nothing screams “too much makeup” like concealer under your eyes going “hey. hey. psst. guess what? you’re trying to hide something. everyone knows it.”

Nothing.

Except maybe the hard line of foundation ending at your jaw.

L’Oréal Color Riche Balm Review

Here it is! My first review! It’s actually the fourth I’ve done, but the first one I am posting. I’m so excited! Let’s get to it:

L’Oréal Color Riche Balm in 418 Caring Coral
CVS $7.99 (had $5 in ExtraBucks so I only paid $2.99 + tax)

These came out in what, December? Probably earlier than that, and I am on the Late Train. I hardly ever buy new lip things, aside from Burt's Bees, so no wonder this took me so long.

From L’Oréal’s website:
“Instantly smooths and nurtures lips, providing 8 hours of continuous hydration. Lips feel softer and more supple all day long. Even when removed, it leaves lips feeling conditioned for an additional 2.5 hours.”
